Ardour

"Ardour is a hard disk recorder and digital audio workstation application. It runs on GNU/Linux and Mac OS X. The project was started in 2000 by one of the founding programmers at Amazon.com, Paul Davis, who is also responsible for the JACK Audio Connection Kit. Ardour's intention is to provide digital audio workstation software suitable for professional use. Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, Ardour is free software."

2004, September 23: initial release
2007, April 30: public release of Ardour 2.0
2008, November 11th: public release of Ardour 2.7
