1924: writes the Manifeste du Surréalisme.

1927: joins the French Communist Party.
1928: publishes Nadja.

1933: is expelled from the French Communist Party.

1938: "Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme", Paris.

1946: returns to Paris.

1965: organises "L'Écart absolu", the 9th (and last) international surrealist exhibition, at Galerie de l'Œil, Paris.
