NeXT starts selling limited numbers of their new computers to universities with a beta version of the OS installed.

April: "Planet Core Productions (PCP)" was founded by Marc Trauner (Marc Acardipane) and Thorsten Lambart (Slam Burt) after getting numerous rejections from several labels in order to get their music released.

Some great electronic albums are released that year: Nine Inch Nails (Pretty Hate Machine), Clock DVA (Buried Dreams), Einstürzende Neubauten (Haus der Lüge), Ministry (The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste)...
