1936 1937 <<László Moholy-Nagy ouvre sa propre école, la School of Design de Chicago, officiellement rebaptisée le 30 mars 1944 Institute of Design.
The "Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme" opens in Paris at the illustrious quarters of Georges Wildenstein's Galerie Beaux-Arts. Jean Arp, Salvador DalÃ, Marcel Duchamp, André Masson, Joan Miró, Yves Tanguy and several lesser Surrealist lights all decorated their own mannequins. Sixteen artists were invited to adorn rented store mannequins. Man Ray: "I left mine nude with glass tears on the face and glass soap-bubbles in the hair".
November 16: LSD is first synthesized by Swiss chemist Dr. Albert Hofmann at the Sandoz Laboratories in Basel, Switzerland.
